Climbing, cards and a cause that matters

There are many ways to raise money for a good cause. Sometimes it means pushing yourself well outside your comfort zone. Sometimes it means getting together with colleagues, partners and friends for a great night out.

Last week, colleagues and partners across Rank have done both – coming together to raise more than £28,500 for Carers Trust and support unpaid carers across the UK.

Reaching new heights…

On Wednesday 23 September, 10 colleagues from across the Group travelled to Morocco to take on one of our toughest fundraising challenges yet – climbing Mount Toubkal to its 4,167-metre summit.

This was Rank’s annual Big Challenge in support of Carers Trust, giving colleagues the opportunity to push themselves while raising much-needed funds for unpaid carers.

And it was no easy challenge.

The team spent two days climbing towards the summit, followed by a day of descent. Along the way, there were certainly some aches and pains, long days and nights camping – which, we understand, wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea!

But the team stuck together, supported one another and kept going, completing the challenge and reaching the summit.

Together, they have raised an incredible £20,000 for Carers Trust.

We’re incredibly proud not only of the amount raised, but of every member of the team for pushing themselves through what was a physically and mentally demanding challenge.

“Climbing Mount Toubkal pushed me to my limits, but caring for my mum taught me how to keep going when things get hard. I climbed for those who can’t – and for every carer whose strength is quiet, constant, and extraordinary.”

Raising the stakes

While one Rank team was tackling the Atlas Mountains, another fundraising event was taking place in considerably more luxurious surroundings!

Our annual charity poker night at The Vic in London brought together around 90 guests for an evening of poker, entertainment and fundraising in support of Carers Trust.

With support from the Carers Trust team and a brilliant group of Rank hosts, guests came together to enjoy the evening and help raise money for the charity.

There were plenty of ways to get involved – from playing poker and taking part in the raffle to making donations towards our Toubkal trekkers.

The evening raised more than £8,500 for Carers Trust, taking our fundraising total from these two events to more than £28,500.

One cause, many ways to make a difference

From climbing 4,167 metres in the Atlas Mountains to enjoying a night of poker in London, these events couldn’t look more different – but they have something important in common.

They bring people together around a cause that matters.

The money raised will help Carers Trust support unpaid carers, many of whom provide vital care for a family member or friend while balancing the demands of their own lives.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, sponsored our trekkers, joined the poker night or helped make either event possible. Your support makes these events possible – and makes a real difference to the people and communities Carers Trust supports.

And a special thank you to the team at The Vic, who gave our guests a fantastic experience and helped make the evening such a success.

Whether you’re prepared to climb a mountain or would rather raise money over a game of poker, there’s always a way to get involved.
