Rank reaches £4.5m fundraising milestone in support of unpaid carers

We’re delighted to announce that our long‑standing partnership with national charity Carers Trust has now raised more than £4.5 million to support unpaid carers.

Since our partnership began in 2014, colleagues and customers across our businesses have played a central role in reaching this significant milestone.

Funds raised through the partnership have enabled more than 15,120 unpaid carers to receive vital support via Carers Trust’s network of over 131 local partner services across England, Scotland and Wales.

The support provided ranges from access to respite breaks and peer‑support activities to practical help with essential household items such as washing machines and fridges. Funding has also helped carers develop new skills and improve their wellbeing, offering support at times when it is most needed.

Rank’s fundraising recently supported a carer in the South East whose washing machine broke over Christmas. As a full-time carer for her paralysed spouse, this left her unable to manage the frequent washing of bedding and essential care items, placing significant strain on her ability to provide day-to-day care.

Reflecting on the support she was able to receive through the Rank Cares grant, she said:

“When my washing machine broke, everything became harder and I couldn’t keep up. Having a new washing machine and tumble dryer means I can wash and dry things straight away and have them ready the same day. It’s taken away so much stress and given me more time and energy to focus on my partner’s care. I’m incredibly grateful for the support, it’s made such a difference to our daily lives.”

As our partnership with Carers Trust enters its twelfth year, colleagues are preparing for another ambitious fundraising calendar, including taking on Mount Toubkal in Morocco (the highest peak in North Africa at 13,671 feet) this September.

Rank and Carers Trust will also launch a new mentoring programme this year, starting as a pilot scheme. The programme will support carers who are looking to return to employment by offering insight into the workplace, interview guidance and help with CV writing.

Richard Harris, Interim CEO Rank, said:

“We are incredibly proud of our long-standing corporate charity partnership with Carers Trust. Our colleagues across the Group continue to show real commitment in raising funds, and we are extremely grateful to them and our fantastic customers for their support in raising over £4.5m. It makes a material difference to the lives of unpaid carers, with funding being targeted to the areas it is needed most.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the benefits our new mentoring scheme will have on unpaid carers who are looking to return to employment. The scheme will provide them with the skills and help they need to get them back into paid work.”

Leo Visconti, Executive Director of Income Generation and Engagement at Carers Trust, said: “Our partnership with Rank continues to be one of the most impactful and transformative relationships we have. Over the past twelve years, Rank’s incredible efforts have enabled our local partner services to reach thousands of unpaid carers in need of recognition, support, or a chance to simply pause and breathe.”
