Rank colleagues go the distance…

Six colleagues from across our businesses have swapped their day jobs for saddles, cycling more than 315 miles over four days to support unpaid carers across the UK.

Together, the riders raised over £12,000, adding to the impressive £4.2m already raised by colleagues and customers as part of our corporate charity partnership with Carers Trust.

The team set off from central London on 10 September, tackling an 86-mile first leg across the Kent countryside before crossing the Channel at Dover. From there, they kept their wheels turning through the French landscape, completing a victory lap around the Arc de Triomphe before crossing the finish line at the Eiffel Tower.

The challenge featured colleagues from across the business: Richard Harris, Chief Financial Officer; Alex Saul and Gavin Lee, Regional Directors, Grosvenor Casinos; Mark Guthrie, Receptionist at Grosvenor’s Riverboat Casino; Max Brigato, Casino Manager, Grosvenor Dundee; and Jake Royles, Reward Executive in our Sheffield Support Office.

Mark Guthrie, Receptionist at Grosvenor’s Riverboat Casino said:
“Having had my own experience as an unpaid carer, I was only too happy to take on the challenge. It means a lot to be able to raise funds for the army of unpaid hero carers out there.”

Max Brigato, Casino Manager, Grosvenor Dundee added: “I love taking on tough challenges, but even more so when it’s for a great cause. I’m surrounded by people who care for others, and I see how difficult it can be. I feel absolutely amazing to have completed the London to Paris cycle challenge and to have contributed to supporting carers.”

The money raised will support the Rank Cares grants programme, which funds essentials such as beds and washing machines, provides carers with time out to rest and recharge, and gives opportunities to develop skills to balance caring with future employment.

Rank is proud of every colleague who took part in this challenge, proving that when it comes to making a difference, we don’t just go the extra mile — we go hundreds.
